Giving Underserved Girls the Promise of a Brighter Future

By The Girls Education First Staff
A Growing Crisis
Abhati, an 11-year-old girl from Bangladesh, is currently staying at home instead of getting an education despite her passion for reading. Aisha, in Senegal, comes from a family that has chosen to send her brother to school, while she stays at home to work on their land. She wanted to become a teacher. And in Syria, Zaynab has dreams of designing buildings, but she wonders if it is possible since she has been out of school for so long.
For countless reasons, more than 132 million girls like Abhati, Aisha, and Zeynab are deprived of education around the world. There is an unfortunate, but real disparity between the education that boys and girls around the world receive.

Barriers to be Broken
Unlike boys, girls around the globe face tremendous obstacles when trying to attain an education and schooling. Some of those barriers include poverty, violence, child marriage, gender inequality, and lack of schools and teachers. For Zaynab in Syria, these pre-existing barriers are only compounded by a devastating civil war, which has lasted a decade. There, the chance of girls being out of school is more than twice as high.

Providing Much Needed Funding and Supplies
How can we make this a better world where girls with dreams are provided with more opportunities and better access to schooling to reach their full potential?
This is the mission of the Girls Education First Foundation. We are committed to helping provide a safe, fair, and quality education for girls living in low-income communities, developing and war-torn countries.
This crisis has never been more urgent. So, please join us at GEFF and make a donation to help secure vulnerable girls’ future here at home and around the world. Your contribution will help provide tangible resources including tuition fees, school supplies, health kits, hygienic supplies, financial aid, and much more – so these girls can gain the skills, knowledge, and self-confidence they need to escape the cycle of poverty and become independent, productive members of society. Little girls like Aisha, Abhati, and Zaynab depend on a sponsor like you. You can be that someone. Your support will save innocent lives, and help make the world a better place for little girls in need.

90% of Every Dollar Goes to Educating Girls in Need
Learn more about how we are fighting this injustice on the GEEF website and what you can do to help the cause. And if you’re in the position to, please consider making a donation. Ninety percent of every dollar donated goes straight to our mission and provides a safe, quality education to these underserved girls who need it the most.
Most importantly, help us spread the word! We need to have these conversations because girls here at home and around the world need our help. More awareness on this issue will help reduce these barriers and can ensure that girls sure, can, and will take ownership of their future if given the opportunity.
One of my favorite quotes is from Eleanor Roosevelt; “Great minds discuss ideas. Average minds discuss events. Small minds discuss people”. Although I laud her sentiments, I will also concede that, when it comes to solving problems, we need to know about people and events in order to come up with ideas for solutions. I will also add that we need to try to find the causes at the root of the problems. So in the spirit of great minds coming together to have a conversation, we need to identify why women around the world are at risk of intellectual deprivation then come up with ideas to change those patterns and solve this problem for good. This oppression has gone on long enough.
Well said, Carmen!
We do need to come together to make this a success. We thank you for your valuable inputs. #letsmakethisaconversation

Nous vous remercions pour votre soutien. En effet, l’éducation des filles est le point précurseur de changements durables.
Education is the Foundation of everything, in particular girl’s education… the entire society must invest in girl’s education for a sustainable and loving humanity.
We thank you for acknowledging the issue and championing girls’ access to a safe, fair, and quality education. An educated female population does have the power to increase an entire country’s productivity and promote economic growth.
