Foundation Donates Hundreds of Food Items & Hygienic Supplies to Homeless Families

Girls Education First Foundation expands its reach across communities in Jackson County.

MEDFORD, OR., January 11, 2023 – The Girls Education First Foundation has recently distributed more than 300 food items and hygienic supplies to 3 nonprofits across Jackson County, Oregon. The initiative offers free groceries and hygienic items to people in need and supports the local organizations’ efforts to combat food insecurity and provide nutritional education to homeless children and families.

Launched in 2020, the Foundation’s Food for the Homeless Program was initiated to help provide bags of groceries with produce to those in need and those struggling with food insecurity.  Following the series of wildfires and pandemic crises that have affected several communities around the country, many individuals and families became homeless and the number of people needing food assistance has sharply spiked with one in eight residents now experiencing food insecurity.

This is a unique program that enables the Foundation to build partnerships with nonprofits advocating for hunger relief,” says Irmes Dagba-Craven, Founder and President of Girls Education First Foundation. “It provides an opportunity for us to support efforts to feed homeless children and families struggling to access healthy food.

Based on the program’s success in its first year, GEFF will continue to distribute nutritious food to local nonprofits that provide free food pantries to their communities, to improve access to healthy food for families in need.

In addition to the Food for Homeless program, GEFF offers several programs that promote and advocate for girls’ access to quality education. The Foundation has partnered with numerous organizations such as the Boys and Girls Clubs of America, to provide free educational programs that empower youth, particularly girls, and improve learning outcomes.
